nuclear pore complexes

The nuclear pore complex (NPC) is a macromolecular protein assembly embedded in the double lipid bilayer of the nuclear membrane, and is the sole gateway of macromolecular traffic between the nucleus and cytoplasm.

A nuclear pore is part of a large complex of proteins, known as a nuclear pore complex that spans the nuclear envelope, which is the double membrane surrounding the eukaryotic cell nucleus.

Nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) fuse the inner and outer nuclear membranes to form channels across the nuclear envelope.

Nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) are the gateways connecting the nucleoplasm and cytoplasm. These structures are composed of over 30 different proteins and 60–125 MDa of mass, depending on the type of species.
